DoD's Defense Manpower Data Center Taps XTec for Multiple-Award Blanket Purchase Agreement
RESTON, Va., July 23, 2012 -- XTec Incorporated, a leader in the smart card and credentialing industry, today announced that the Department of Defense's Defense Manpower Data Center awarded it a blanket purchase agreement for cardstock, middleware and related support. The multiple-award BPA has an estimated value of $95 million. XTec also received the first two task orders under the BPA, totaling $5.8 million, to supply cardstock and electromagnetic opaque sleeves to DMDC.
"XTec has provided nearly 2 million smart cards to the federal government during the past 15 years," said Kevin Kozlowski, XTec's vice president of government initiatives. "That experience gives DoD an unparalleled level of assurance that XTec can and will deliver quality products and services, on time and within budget."
To fulfill these two task orders, XTec will provide DMDC approximately 1.2 million compliant smart cards and 1.25 million electromagnetic opaque sleeves. XTec utilizes suppliers Oberthur Technologies Inc and Gemalto for cardstock and Identity Stronghold for card sleeves. Fulfillment of these task orders will allow DMDC to secure resources by using common access cards for employees, contractors and military personnel.
Under the terms of this BPA, DMDC may also utilize XTec's middleware bundle, AuthentXware, as well as related licensing and support. AuthentXware is approved by General Services Administration as a FIPS 201 compliant product.
XTec has delivered cards, card products and high security identity card services for a variety of federal agencies. Previous and current customers include Department of Homeland Security, DoD, NASA, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Labor and Department of State.
